Tsunami

Recently, the earthquake hit Indonesian again, exactly in Aceh. This is the second time for Aceh which had hit by earthquake. When the first earthquake, it’s not only just earthquake but also the tsunami after it. Now, I want describe what the tsunami is.

Tsunami is a series of huge waves that can cause great devastation and loss of life when they strike a coast. Tsunami are caused by an under water earthquake, volcanic eruption, etc. Most tsunami are caused by under water earthquakes, but not all under water earthquakes cause tsunami. An earthquakes has to be over about magnitude 6,75 on the richter scale for it to cause tsunami, about 90% of all tsunami occur in the pacific ocean.

This kind of natural disaster gives a bad effect for all. The great waves that are producedcan cause tremendous damage for island and destroy all surrounding.

Drunk Dutch Tourist Gets Sharp Lesson

A Dutch tourist who drunkenly tried to pet a circus lion in its cage in southern France was nursing a wounded hand and neck on Tuesday after being scratched in return, police said.

The unnamed 21 years old woman was lucky to be only slightly injured in the incident, which occurred late Sunday after she and her friends went up to the cage following and evening of drinking in a campsite in the town of Vacquires, officer said.

She had stuck her hand in the enclosure in an attempt to touch the three year old lion when the animal sprung around and slashed at her with its claws. The tourist was taken to hospital in Monpellier.

Pengangguran Harus Diatasi

           Di tengah hiruk-pikuk perdebatan atau diskusi tentang pembelian pesawat Sukhoi, masalah yang sebetulnya jauh lebih serius untuk diperhatikan adalah pengangguran. Beberapa waktu lalu, beberapa media cetak di ibu kota melaporkan di halaman depan, bagaimana ribuan pencari kerja harus berdesakan bahkan pingsan untuk mendapatkan lowongan pekerjaan yang di buka oleh beberapa perusahaan seperti Bank Danamon, Carrefour, Bank Permata dan Hoka Hoka Bento. Menurut laporan media cetak, tingginya animo pencari kerja ini karena dalam waktu dekat ini masih banyak perusahaan manufaktur yang akan tutup sehingga harus melakukan pemutusan hubungan kerja. Indikasi ini, sebetulnya suatu peringatan yang sangat serius kepada pemerintah bahwa masalah pengangguran harus di pikirkan secara sungguh-sungguh.

            Karena itu penulis berfikir masalah pengangguran semestinya jauh lebih urgent untuk di pecahkan dari pada memikirkan exit strategy dari kontrak IMF. Karena apapun keputusan atau srategi pemerintah untuk keluar dari kontrak IMF tidak akan membuat Negara ini bangkrut seketika.

Sekitar 12 Juta Orang Terperangkap Kerja Paksa

 

           Sekitar 12 juta orang di seluruh dunia terperangkap dalam praktek kerja paksa. Hal ini seharusnya tidak terjadi dalam era modern saat ini. Demikian hasil penelitian Organisasi Buruh Internasional (ILO).

            ILO menyebutkan bahwa dari total 12 juta orang tersebut hampir 10 juta orang di eksploitasi melalui kerja paksa, umunya di sektor swasta. Sisanya sekitar 2 juta orang menjadi korban penyelundupan manusia.

            Di Asia tercatat 9,5 juta orang terperangkap dalam kerja paksa. Banyak orang bekerja tidak memperoleh bayaran yang sesuai, tidak cukup umur, atau bagi wanita terpaksa melakukan pekerjaan yang seharusnya dilakukan pria.

            ILO juga mencatat bahwa 40-50% dari total pekerja paksa itu adalah anak-anak di bawah 18 tahun yang harus bekerja berat. Selain itu, tercatat sekitar 2 juta orang di paksa bekerja oleh penguasa atau kelompok pemberontak. Orang-orang yang masuk dalam perangkap kerja paksa itu umunya karena terjepit utang serta tidak bias lepas dari lingkaran kemiskinan.

            Kegiatan kerja paksa tersebut terjadi karena kurangnya pengawasan atas perekrutan tenaga kerja dan lemahnya posisi pekerja. Munculnya bentuk-bentuk baru dari pemaksaan dalam globalisasi ekonomi saat ini juga menimbulkan sejumlah masalah.
